KADUNA, North-West, Nigeris – Residents of Chikun and Kajuru Local Government areas under the auspices of Southern Kaduna Concern Political Forum have warned the All Progressives Congress, (APC) against imposition of candidates that don’t have electoral value during the forthcoming party primaries in the State.

The residents, who are also APC members of the Kaduna Central Senatorial zone, which include: Kaduna North, Kaduna South, Birnin-Gwari, Igabi, Chikun, Kajuru and Giwa local government areas said APC must thread with caution fielding “unpopular” candidates for the general election.

According to them, the only way a credible candidate can emerge without controversies and disenchantment is to adopt the Direct mode of primary election .

Speaking to journalists after an emergency meeting held at Kujama Friday, to decide on candidate to vote during the 2019 general election, Chairman of the Forum, Comrade Friday Jagudo said any attempt to field any candidate outside Senator Shehu Sani will be resisted.

“We have studied and followed the activities of Senator Shehu Sani in the Hallowed Red chamber and are satisfied with his quality of representation.

“We see no reason, a good and grassroots politician, such as Senator Shehu Sani should be denied the right to represent us again, especially when we have collected our PVCs and ready to return him to the Senate.”

While urging APC to consider merit and performance, the group maintained that, “Senator Shehu Sani has imparted on the lives of people in the Zone especially the downtrodden and should be given another chance to return to the Senate.”

He however, said that what should be of paramount importance to APC is how to win and retain the seat during the elections.

“The defection of Senator Suleiman Hunkuyi of Zone One to the opposition and Zone three already in their hands, the major focus of the party is how to retain the seat and the only sure option is Shehu Sani.

“We resolved to take our complaints and decision to the public as well as our dismay over the plot to replace our Senator with another aspirant, because this is not in our interest.

“We have testified to the fact that Shehu Sani has performed very well and we want him to come back to continue the good work.

“We are calling on the National Chairman of our great party, Adam Oshiomhole, to intervene in this matter or we embark on a protest vote if the state leadership imposed any aspirant on us,” Jagudo said.
