Eid-El Kabir: Foundation Distributes Food Items To Orphans, Widows

KADUNA, North-West, Nigeria – In the spirit of Eid -El Kabir celebration, an NGO, Teku Farm Foundation, (TFF) has distributed food items and cash donation to families of deceased colleagues in the horticultural business in Kaduna State.

Founder of TFF, Alhaji Ibrahim Salisu, disclosed this while presenting the food items and donation to nine families of 21 children and 6 widows of their deceased colleagues at Kabala Doki, Kaduna North Local Government Area on Sunday, August 19, 2018.

According to him, TFF was founded in May 2018 to support the development of forestry in the state and also protect the environment against degradation at the wake of climate change.

Another objective, Alhaji Salisu said, is to compliment government’s efforts at providing employment to our teaming unemployed youth through the business of horticulture and other activities which is aimed at protecting trees .

He said TFF will collaborate with the State Government, private organizations or individuals to protect the environment through trees planting to fight desertification and climate change.

He however, called on the Government and well meaning citizens of the state to come to the aid of the children of their deceased colleagues by offering them scholarship to study horticulture in tertiary institutions so that they could continue on the family business.

“We hope to take the children of our deceased colleagues off the street, and return them to the classroom up to the tertiary institutions to study horticulture and come back to continue their father’s business,” he said.

Speaking also, Secretary of Horticultural Unity and Development Association, Kaduna, Mohammed Garba, said that the Teku Farm Foundation in it short life span has carried out similar activities during the last Eid-il Fitr celebration and hoped that it would get bigger and better next year.

He said that the foundation will not only stop at distributing food items and cash donations, but also look at financing the education of children of their deceased colleagues as well as take care of their health needs.

Garba who claimed that horticultural business in Kaduna state started from the Kabala Doki unit, hence, any burning issues affecting their business is brought down to the unit for settlement.

He added that his colleagues are fully committed to supporting the fight against climate change, deforestation and environmental degradation

Some of the families that benefited from the donaations expressed happiness and commended the Foundation for the kind gesture.
