Holy Ka’aba’s Imam visits Gov Zulum

MAIDUGURI, North-East, Nigeria – A Saudi academics and one of the leading Imams in congregational prayers at the Holy Ka’aba, (Masjid Al-Haram) in Makkah, Professor Hassan Abdulhamid Bukhari, on Wednesday visited Borno State Governor, Professor  Babagana Zulum.
Professor Bukhari, who is the Dean, Faculty of Arabic Studies for non natives at Ummul Qura University in Makkah, was in Maiduguri on the invitation of President of Al-ansar Foundation, Dr. Mohammed Dikwa, founder of Borno’s first private university still under construction.
Bukhari who was highly impressed with Borno’s hospitality and age long history of Quranic knowledge, said the state is known for it’s numerous Quran reciters all over the world.
The Imam whose message was translated into English by his host, Dr Dikwa, said he was happy to associate with Zulum’s administration having monitored all his achievements in far away Saudi Arabia.
“I have particularly shown interest in Governor Babagana Zulum having monitored his activities over the last few years and indeed happy to associate with him and his government for the developmental strides under his stewardship,” he said.
Responding, Governor Zulum expressed appreciation for the visit and said Borno state has a long standing relationship with the government and people of Saudi Arabia, particularly the custodian of the two holy mosques.
“Indeed, one of the Imams of the holy Mosque, Masjid Alharam visiting Maiduguri is pleasing to the entire Muslim community in the state,” Zulum said; and sought for the support of the Saudi’s Government in areas of teaching Arabic and Islamic Education, as well as support in combating violent extremist ideologies in attempt to restore peace in Borno state.
The Governor explained that Kanuris were originally from the Arab nations before migrating to Borno.
