Kaduna State Vs Zakzaky: Counsel Optimistic As Zakzaky Knows Fate October 4

KADUNA, North-West, Nigeria – Counsel to incarcerated leader of Islamic Movement in Nigeria, (IMN), popularly known as Shi’ite, Sheikh Ibraheem El-Zakzaky, has said that they were optimistic that Zakzaky and his wife, Zeenat would regain freedom.

Counsel to Zakzaky, Maxwell Kyon, shortly after he moved for bail as the Court sat on Thursday, August 2, 2018 in Kaduna.

Kyon said that they came prepared with their brief, as well as the government lawyers with theirs, however, the matter was adjourned to October 4, 2018.

“We have moved application for bail for the first and second accused and are optimistic of getting bail for our clients,” he said.

Fielding questions from the media, Solicitor General and Permanent Secretary, Kaduna State Ministry of Justice, Chris Umar said they have been able to serve the third and fourth accused persons through publications in newspapers.

“Afterwards, if they fail to appear, we have sought the court to issue a bench warrant,” he said.

Meanwhile, major roads in Kaduna were lock down from 9am when the case was on in court, with heavy presence of joint security operatives.

Roads affected includes most stretch of Independence Way, part of Ahmadu Bello Way, Ibrahim Taiwo Road and Waff Road.

As recorded in previous court sessions, journalists were again barred from gaining access to the High Court premises where the case was heard.

The revered Kaduna based Islamic cleric who has been in incarceration since 2015 will know his fate on October 4, 2018.
